Who Watches the Narrows?

What's going on in Gotham's dark corners tonight? The people of the Narrows could tell you, if they weren't so afraid to speak up.

Of all the dark corners in our city (I'm looking at you, Crime Alley) the Narrows are arguably the worst.  Least patrolled by Gotham's finest, the district is composed primarily of dark corners.  Would it kill the city to spring for some more modern street lights? And living in the poorest section of town, under the walls and in the shadow of Arkham Asylum, is a woman not unlike you, or me.  She is trying to raise her two children on her own, and to keep a roof over their heads.

Her plight is one the high society of New Gotham claim to care about, and use as bullet points in their election campaigns, but once they take office... who really cares about the Narrows?  Money for new schools and safer public transportation mysteriously disappears, and instead more low income housing is crammed onto the Arkham island.  Let the poor take care of their own, am I right?

Well, I'm not going to stand for it!  Stay tuned, fearful reader, as I shine my spotlight on this woman in my next post.  Perhaps we can't do anything about those other dark corners, but this one... this one... I'm going to expose it to the world.

Why Oracle?

In many ancient religions and texts oracles are a source of divine information, prophetic opinion, or wise counsel.  I hope to fill such a role here, for my home of Gotham.  Our city is full of such potential, and yet also so consumed by rot that I fear it is only a matter of time before it collapses in on itself.

So read on... I hope to be able to shine a light on the dark corners of Gotham, to make apparent that while the Police Department does its best (or does it), and the Mayor's office is finally clearing out its corruption, it really is up to us, the citizens of Gotham.  What we do, or do not do, will shape the direction of our city for years to come.
