Local Gangs Using Latest Tech, QC Involved?

I don't know about you, dear citizen, but when I hear that the Crows are all using next gen Qphones as they go about their business of injecting filth into the Narrows, I want to dig further. Queen Consolidated has a lot of moving pieces, a lot of employees, and supposedly a lot of oversight, but you and I both know that big corporations do just about whatever they want to do.

So are they giving phones to the local gangs? That would be ridiculous, so let's say that QC obviously has no idea how they're getting them. But no cellular stores were knocked over recently, so they didn't steal them, at least, not in the traditional Crows' way. I did some digging, as is my wont, and while I didn't uncover a smoking gun, or a lost crate of phones, I did find that Queen Consolidated has been acquiring a lot of different companies over the years. Not really news, no, but some of the smaller companies have been dropping completely off the map.

Take Benson Inc, for example, a small tech firm that QC bought for their microcamera patent a few years ago. They're gone. No offices, the employees weren't fired or redistributed, they just... disappeared. The Benson brothers, who sold the company, are living quite comfortably in the Pacific Northwest off of the money they made on the sale, but that's it.

What does this have to do with the Crows? Probably not much, but if entire companies are being swallowed by the behemoth that is Queen Consolidated, who knows what else the corporation is up to. Creeping in on what is usually considered Wayne Enterprises territory, QC has made great leaps in their R&D, which is what leads us to the newest iteration of the Qphone. Its barely available for consumers to buy, and here is it in the Narrows, being used by criminals. Worth looking into further...and I will.

Gang Members Intimidate Local Businesses

The plot thickens.

A tattoo seen on the assailants of a local woman has been traced to the Crows, a gang of thugs who spend most of their time in the Narrows.  The tattoo was not reported to the police, which may be why their investigation into the mugging has gone no where.

But Oracle, you say, they don't have the resources to run down all the leads for every maid who gets robbed.

No? I call bullshit on that.  Gotham is a rich city on the rise.  If GPD doesn't have the resources, then someone is alocating the funds incorrectly.  What is more important than public safety?

Further digging into the Crows has revealed more disturbing facts.  As if assaulting and robbing women on the street were not enough.  It seems that the gang has been expanding its borders, and adding strong-arming business owners to its list of crimes.  These small businesses are mom and pop deals, and with the economy the way it is they're barely scraping by.

Why are the Crows demanding protection money from these people, regular folk like you and me? And why are they intruding on the territory of other gangs? It is highly unusual behavior for this small time gang.  We'll find out soon enough, but I pray its not too late.

Watch over your neighbors.  In these dark times, in these dark corners, we must stick together.

Who Watches the Narrows?

What's going on in Gotham's dark corners tonight? The people of the Narrows could tell you, if they weren't so afraid to speak up.

Of all the dark corners in our city (I'm looking at you, Crime Alley) the Narrows are arguably the worst.  Least patrolled by Gotham's finest, the district is composed primarily of dark corners.  Would it kill the city to spring for some more modern street lights? And living in the poorest section of town, under the walls and in the shadow of Arkham Asylum, is a woman not unlike you, or me.  She is trying to raise her two children on her own, and to keep a roof over their heads.

Her plight is one the high society of New Gotham claim to care about, and use as bullet points in their election campaigns, but once they take office... who really cares about the Narrows?  Money for new schools and safer public transportation mysteriously disappears, and instead more low income housing is crammed onto the Arkham island.  Let the poor take care of their own, am I right?

Well, I'm not going to stand for it!  Stay tuned, fearful reader, as I shine my spotlight on this woman in my next post.  Perhaps we can't do anything about those other dark corners, but this one... this one... I'm going to expose it to the world.

Why Oracle?

In many ancient religions and texts oracles are a source of divine information, prophetic opinion, or wise counsel.  I hope to fill such a role here, for my home of Gotham.  Our city is full of such potential, and yet also so consumed by rot that I fear it is only a matter of time before it collapses in on itself.

So read on... I hope to be able to shine a light on the dark corners of Gotham, to make apparent that while the Police Department does its best (or does it), and the Mayor's office is finally clearing out its corruption, it really is up to us, the citizens of Gotham.  What we do, or do not do, will shape the direction of our city for years to come.
